It is with great pride that we announce that two of our students have been selected as exhibitors at the prestigious 2018 VCE Season of Excellence Top Designs exhibition; Elysia Bovill (Media) and Grace Wilson (Visual Communication Design)
The 2018 VCE Season of Excellence board received over 1200 applications, of which only 79 works made the final selection. Elysia Bovill’s print Media product, a magazine titled Inflorescence, has been selected for display. Elysia, who studied Units 3 and 4 Media as a Year 11 student in 2017, created a 12-page magazine featuring a collection of poetic musings, original sketches and photography. Grace Wilson designed containers and packaging for a new range of perfumes. Her thorough design work includes over 80 pages of ideas and design resolutions. These designs resulted in a very original range of finished products. Grace completed this Visual Communication Design folio in the second half of 2017, while completing her Year 12 studies. We are very proud of both Elysia and Grace’s determination to achieve at the highest possible level, and see their selection in Top Designs as recognition of their diligent work. |
Top Designs 2018 will take place at the Melbourne Museum between Saturday 17 March and Sunday 15 July 2018. Entry to Top Designs is free with museum entry, and students can enter the museum for free.

2013 VCE SEASON OF EXCELLENCE The 2013 Top Designs exhibition was launched on Friday 15th March, 2013, at the Melbourne Museum. Among the featured works, created by the most outstanding VCE students from 2012, was our very own Meleonie Meyer.
Meleonie graduated from Ringwood Secondary College at the end of 2012, and as part of her VCE Units 3 and 4 Media course she created the Melbourne-inspired magazine; Elliotte. “The idea for Elliotte came from a personal interest in creative lifestyle magazines, such as Frankie and online presses such as Dashing magazine. Inspired by these I chose to create a magazine aimed at young women, showcasing Melbourne’s quirks and hidden gems with a kitsch touch.” The 2013 VCE Season of Excellence received 189 Applications for Photography, Print Layout and Multimedia, of which only 18 made it to final selection to be featured as part of this year’s exhibition. Meleonie’s dedication and commitment to her final Media product has definitely paid off. After eight long months of hard work, day trips to the city, seeking copyright permissions, writing and editing her own articles, capturing hundreds of photographs, and learning how to use editing software, Meleonie’s beautifully crafted Elliotte magazine was placed on display as part of the 2013 Top Designs exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. |

RACV TRANSMISSION FILM COMP In 2012, the then Year 8 students Caleb Lindner, Lincoln Meyer, and Rory Smyth entered the RACV Transmission YouTube film competition.
The aim behind the film competition is to give young people (from Years 7-12) the opportunity to make a film about a road safety topic relevant to young people. The films were to create a positive message, which shows the importance of being aware of issues such as driver distraction, mobile phones, and passengers. The three boys made a selection of films, and entered three of their final pieces into the competition. The outcome? All three films were awarded with a prize! Their film titled "Kidnapped" was awarded with first prize for the competition, while the other two entries; "No Second Chances" and "Brother" were also awarded with finalist prizes.
